About the University

The University of Southern Indiana (USI) is a public university located in Evansville, Indiana. The university was founded in 1965 as a regional campus of Indiana State University and became an independent institution in 1985. USI offers more than 130 programs of study in various fields and is organized into four colleges:

  • College of Liberal Arts
  • College of Business
  • College of Nursing and Health Professions
  • Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education

Grading and GPA System

USI uses a 4-point grading scale for all courses:

  • A – Excellent (4.0)
  • B – Good (3.0-3.9)
  • C – Satisfactory (2.0-2.9)
  • D – Minimally passing (1.0-1.9)
  • F – Failing (0.0)

Grade point average (GPA) is calculated on a 4.0 scale and is the weighted average of grades earned in all courses. USI defines academic standing based on GPA as follows:

  • Dean's List: 3.5 or above GPA
  • Good Academic Standing: 2.0 or above GPA
  • Academic Warning: GPA below 2.0 and up to 1.5 GPA
  • Probation: GPA below 1.5
