About Metropolitan Community College (MO)

Metropolitan Community College (MCC) is a public community college system in Missouri, United States. It was established in 1915 as the Kansas City Polytechnic Institute and has grown into a multi-campus system serving the Kansas City metropolitan area.


MCC has five campuses located throughout the metropolitan area, as well as several satellite locations. The campuses and their locations are as follows:

Grading and GPA System

MCC uses a letter grading system for its courses, ranging from A to F. The grades and their corresponding quality points are:
  • A - 4.0 quality points
  • B - 3.0 quality points
  • C - 2.0 quality points
  • D - 1.0 quality point
  • F - 0 quality points
The GPA is calculated by dividing the total quality points earned by the total number of credit hours attempted. A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required to graduate from MCC.
