Here are a few things to know about LA Tech:
  • LA Tech has been ranked in the top tier of national universities by U.S. News & World Report.
  • The university is known for its strong engineering programs, but also offers degrees in fields such as business, education, liberal arts, and nursing.

Grading and GPA System

LA Tech uses a traditional letter grading system, with the following values assigned to letter grades:
  • A: 4.0
  • B: 3.0
  • C: 2.0
  • D: 1.0
  • F: 0.0
In addition to letter grades, LA Tech also uses plus (+) and minus (-) grades, which are worth 0.3 points and 0.7 points, respectively. For example, a B+ is worth 3.3 points and a B- is worth 2.7 points. To calculate a student's grade point average (GPA), the following formula is used: GPA = (total number of grade points earned) / (total number of credit hours attempted) Each letter grade has a corresponding grade point value, as shown above. For example, if a student earns an A in a 3-credit course, they would earn 12 grade points (4.0 x 3 credits). Once the student's total grade points are calculated, they are divided by the total number of credit hours attempted to get their GPA.

Louisiana Tech University is a prestigious institution that offers a wide range of academic programs to students from around the world. With a strong emphasis on engineering and research, as well as a thriving student community and beautiful campus, LA Tech is a great place to pursue higher education. The university's grading and GPA system follows a traditional letter system with plus (+) and minus (-) grades, and is used to calculate a student's academic standing throughout their time at LA Tech.
