Grading and GPA System

Coast Colleges uses a traditional letter grading system, with grades ranging from A to F. Students must earn a grade of C or better in most courses in order to complete degree requirements and transfer to a four-year university. The system also uses a GPA scale that ranges from 0.0 to 4.0. The GPA is calculated by assigning each grade a point value (e.g., A = 4.0, B = 3.0, etc.) and then averaging those values across all completed courses.
